SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (March. 24, 2020) –Due to CDC recommendations, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks (BBBSO) will be postponing our annual fundraising event, Taste of the Ozarks, as well as its partner event, Patron’s Party.
The 18th annual Taste of the Ozarks, originally scheduled for April 30th, has been postponed November 17, 2020 at the Oasis Convention Center. Partner event, Patron’s Party at Primatara Wine Cave, has also been rescheduled to the Fall 2020, date to be determined.
BBBSO staff has been working hard to reach out to every Big, Little and Guardian to provide emotional support, to provide guidance for building match relationships in new ways and to connect families in need with resources like rent assistance and food delivery. We are still accepting volunteer applications through our website at www.bigbro.com. In response to COVID-19, BBBSO will be suspending all new match meetings until further notice.
BBBSO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and United Way partner agency that believes that every child can succeed and even thrive in life. Most children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters are in single-parent and low-income families or households where a parent is incarcerated. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters supports life changing friendships between professionally screened adult volunteers (Bigs) and children (Littles). Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a system of ongoing evaluation and support, which independent studies prove helps Littles perform better in school, avoid risky behaviors, and grow up to be productive, engaged citizens.
