So many ways to get started
Can you spend thirty minutes of your lunch hour with a child at their school? This one-on-one relationship provides positive changes in a child's life, from increased self-esteem and better grades to stronger communication.
A volunteer is matched with a child at an elementary school that is close in proximity to work or home. The volunteer and child meet every week during the school year to enjoy lunch together and just talk. All match activities take place during the child's scheduled lunch period, on school grounds. Lunch time lasts approximately thirty minutes, depending on the child's lunch period.
Make a Difference
Whether the match eats lunch, reads a book, or just listens, the relationship promotes a positive school experience for the child: good attendance, positive peer and adult relationships, a positive attitude, and academic enrichment.
BBBS has learned that being important to a child doesn't take much more than that, but the impact can be huge- for both of you.
